The Story Behind the New Heads Up® Brand

After more than 30 years in the field, Heads Up® has a new look.
But this rebrand was never about changing who we are. It was about creating a brand that better represents the company we have become while staying connected to the history, people and purpose that got us here.
Heads Up Plant Protectants has spent decades researching plant health and helping protect crops from diseases like white mold and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). As our company continues to grow across North America, we wanted our brand to tell that story more clearly.
Every part of the new identity was created with intention, from the logo and colors to our messaging and the way we communicate with growers, retailers, seed partners and distributors.
A Brand Built Around What We Protect
At the center of the new Heads Up® identity is the plant.
Our new logo incorporates a simplified plant symbol surrounded by a form that represents protection. Together, these elements reflect the purpose behind Heads Up®: helping protect the plant and its potential.
That idea of proactive protection became an important part of how we approached the new brand. Rather than focusing only on the diseases we fight, we wanted the identity to represent what we are working to protect.
The plant. The crop. The investment. And ultimately, the grower’s potential.
That thinking led us to a simple message that now sits at the heart of our brand:
Protect What You Plant.
A Look Connected to Agriculture
The new color palette was intentionally designed to feel at home in agriculture.
Deep greens represent healthy crops, growth and the fields where our product is used. Lighter greens bring energy and life to the identity, while warm neutral tones keep the brand grounded and approachable.
Together, the colors create a system that feels modern without losing the agricultural roots of the company.
More Than 30 Years Behind the Name
While the visual identity is new, the experience behind it isn't.
The story of Heads Up began with founder Joe Dutcheshen, a pharmacist and farmer whose interest in plant health led to decades of research into how plants respond to disease.
That work eventually became Heads Up® Plant Protectant and helped establish the company as an early pioneer in biological seed treatment research.
Today, Heads Up remains farmer founded and family owned, and that history was something we wanted the new brand to communicate more confidently.
We aren't trying to look like a company that appeared overnight.
There are more than 30 years of research, field experience, relationships and results behind the Heads Up name.
Protect. Prove. Profit.
As part of the rebrand, we also simplified how we talk about what Heads Up® brings to the field.
It comes down to three ideas:
Protect.
Proactive protection starts at the seed, helping prepare the plant for disease pressure before it arrives.
Prove.
More than 30 years of research, trials and real-world use continue to build the story behind Heads Up®.
Profit.
At the end of the day, crop protection has to make sense for the operation. Protecting plant health and yield potential helps growers protect the investment they put into every acre.
These three ideas give us a clearer way to communicate not only what Heads Up® is, but why it matters.
Bringing Everything Under One Brand
The rebrand goes far beyond a new logo.
We have carried the new identity across our website, packaging, marketing materials, trade show displays, apparel, social media, field signage, sales materials and more.
The goal is simple: wherever you see Heads Up®, it should feel like Heads Up®.
We also redesigned our website to make it easier to understand how the product works, explore trial information, learn about disease pressure and connect with the right Heads Up representative or retailer.
As we continue building out the brand, you'll see even more emphasis on field results, grower experiences, research and education.
The Same Heads Up®, Moving Forward
A lot has changed visually.
What hasn't changed is what stands behind the brand.
We're still a farmer-founded, family-owned company. We're still committed to biological seed treatment research. We're still working alongside growers, retailers, seed partners and distributors. And we're still focused on helping protect crops before disease has the opportunity to take yield away.
The new Heads Up® identity simply gives us a stronger way to tell that story.
More than 30 years brought us here.
Now we're building what's next.
